Something Old, Something New

Winter Coats 2019 Edition

Happy New Year guys!!! Here we are in 2019 together after almost 7 years of being friends via the blogosphere. This has been some journey. I remember back when I thought this blog would be predominantly about shoes, then it transitioned into “Something Old, Something New” and me showing all the thrifted items I would find. From traveling city to city checking out fashion week shows and interviewing fashionable guests and designers, to quitting my government job and moving to London to work for a fashion magazine. To now being an editorial stylist, entrepreneur and soon to be published author. God is awesome.

Recently I have been getting loads of inquiries about my coat collection. Here on the blog I rarely wore coats, but over on Instagram I oftentime post full outfits which include my coats. So I wanted to share the goods with you all.

The coats featured in this post are ones that I have acquired this winter season only. All are either thrifted or gifted.

Even in the wearing the same base outfit each coat ensues a different mood, and I think that’s why I focus on such a telling coat collection. You don’t have to work as hard on your outfit when your coat can easily tell the story for you, and besides your coat covers your outfit anyway.

Vintage Twin set

Hey guys!!! So happy to be back posting. I’m here to share a “something old” piece that I’m really excited about. It’s a vintage twin cardigan set. The colors are beautiful, and it’s made with the most lush poly blend ever.

I paired my fun print, vintage twin set with a new pair of straight leg black jeans that I recently picked up from H&M. Even though H&M doesn’t always hit a high note with me, I will say that it’s one of the best retailers for popping in to buy BASICs.

Honored to have my brother, Mainstream Images, shot these pictures for me. He is one of my biggest supporters and suppliers for my business. He actually gifted me this lovely vintage twin set.

Camo Smiles

Hi guys, I’m back on the blog with a little personal style fun. As you can clearly see these photos aren't the usual beautifully shot, high fashion outfits that I normally feature here on the blog. I wanted to show you guys my more candid side.

After piling loads of camo pieces over my oversized midi length dress, my bf thought I looked pretty cool and wanted snap a few shots. I insisted that we shoot with my cell phone using my favorite photo apps, HUJI Cam. I also love the fact that he didn’t wait for me to pose at all. I don’t know about you guys but I just love off guard shots.

Not that I will intentionally wear this outfit all together again; individually, these piece rock. This is probably one of the most comfortable outfits I’ve worn. This oversized poly dress is easy to pair with any type of footwear or layering piece. It’s perfect for transitioning the seasons. And what can I say about my “dad sandals”. I don’t know the actual names of them, but boy are they comfy. They also add a bit of contrast to dresses and girly looks.
