Something Old, Something New

HYSTN: Erdem x H&M - My Top Picks

Hey guys so I'm back with a new blog post sharing some of my favorite things.  About a month ago, I wrote a blog post on the new Erdem x H&M collaboration collection (here).  Back then only the collection's editorial lookbook had been released, so I posted looks that stood out and gave a little background on the brand.

Now (well as of Nov. 2) the complete collection is available in selected H&M stores, as well as on, and I have posted my favorite pieces below as well as links for you all to purchase them directly.

Lastly, and just because I thought this was pretty cool, check out the campaign film that was released leading up to the full launch of the collaborative collection.  The film, "The Secret Life of Flowers", created by Baz Luhrman uses the collection to helps to define characters as they portray a very modern love story amongst friends.

Have You Seen That New....Erdem x H&M Collaboration

Erdem is the latest brand to collaborate with the high street giant, H&M.  The Collection was inspired by Pet Shop Boys music video "Being Boring"...(yea, I had to google it too), but after watching it I totally got it.  As you can tell from the lookbook photos below, there are serious notes and influences from times from the past.  Beautiful gowns covered in winter florals, some even in a beautiful jacquard.  High collars/necklines and beautiful lace which read Victorian romanticism.  The collection is very English.

This collaboration with H&M is the designer's first offering of menswear pieces.  In this category of the collection, there are great heritage pieces, tweed suits, silk pajama inspired sets, pocket squares and shoes, as well as chunky statement knit sweaters.  All of which could actually be worn by women.  The designer shared in an article that "he would take the Harris suit off of the male model, and place it onto the woman model and it would look great.  So yeah for androgyny and gender fluidity in clothing.  I am basically sold at that point.  Boys clothing is just so simple, comfy and overall better sometimes.

This post was compiled of photos from the lookbook of this collection, which in total is about 85 pieces.  Everything will be made available to shop on November 2.  Be on the lookout for another post with some of my favorite pieces, and direct links to shop them.

Have You Seen That New....H&M Studio AW17 Collection

Black, White & A Pop of Colour

I'm sure it's safe to say that we all own at least something from H&M, and boy it's good to see them tipping their toes into the high-fashion realms.  Lucky for us pieces included in this amazing studio collection will soon be in a store near us, and were even avail for purchase right after the runway show.  Don't you just love the new see now, buy right from runway wave of fashion.

The collection contains all the things I am currently obsessing over which is ruffles, feminine lace notes and transparent layers with a light and refreshing twist.  Keeping the color scheme quite monochrome is one that is most attractive to my minimalist style.  But one can not ignore the brilliance that the pop of fuschia on the lip and splashed throughout the collection provided.

I also really appreciated the androgyny and structured pieces throughout the collection.  This was said to be the first H&M collection that featured menswear.  Guys (and the gals) donned everything from tailored suiting to brightly colored pink coats and hoodies.
